Where Did you as an author get your inspiration?

Ever since I was a teenager and inspired by Jackie Collins’ books, I wanted to become a Hollywood novelist. With the old saying, “You should write about what you know,” I ventured into the entertainment industry. I needed to become a Hollywood insider to experience first-hand the lifestyles of the rich and famous. During my twenty years in the entertainment industry, I have created and produced a television pilot, two radio shows, and an entertainment magazine. I am the co-producer of the award-winning documentary a/k/a Tommy Chong and a former Hollywood publicist. My inspiration comes from what I have been exposed to, experienced, and witnessed.

Hollywood Under the Covers was initially inspired when I attended a television network party. I’m not allowed to mention the name of this well-known television network for legal reasons. The event was mixed with celebrities from the network’s new television line up and the media, who were there to conduct interviews for publicity purposes. It was a lavish party with live music, dancing, and complimentary alcohol and food. At the beginning of the evening, everyone was sober and acting proper. By the end of the night, everyone’s behavior was off the record. I found the setting to be very entertaining. The main love interest in my novel between Lacy Fox and Dario Capriano started at this event in real life. I ended up creating characters from some of the celebrities who were in attendance that night. In chapter 5 of Hollywood Under the Covers, I write about this event.

For the actual story idea, I wanted to tell the fascinating story of one of the most powerful talent agents in Hollywood, who during the height of his career represented the top celebrity money-makers. He held great power over the movie and television studios, and he had an interesting relationship with his celebrity clientele. He had it all until he made a bad choice in life.

I wanted to show a variety of diverse people that specialize in different areas of the entertainment industry like a movie star, a singing superstar, a high fashion model, a romance writer, and a call girl. Each person lives a unique lifestyle faced with many scandals, yet, they are brought together by their association to this sleazy, powerful talent agent. Gathering these celebrities under one roof creates chaos, cat fights, challenges, and shocking reunions.

The purpose of the story is to give the readers an inside look at this fascinating and unbelievable industry. Most people will not have the opportunity to experience Hollywood as an insider, but will be able to through Hollywood Under the Covers and my future novels.
